Occupies three cells and shares its length with the Cruiser, making it harder for your opponent to track remaining ship sizes.

The Submarine occupies three cells, the same length as the Cruiser. Having two ships of the same length increases the number of valid three-cell placement candidates in your opponent's probability-density calculations, which favors the defense.

Being relatively short, the Submarine has plenty of placement options. It's great for tucking into gaps between other ships to spread your fleet evenly across the grid.

Placing the Cruiser and Submarine at opposite diagonal corners of the grid forces your opponent to search a wide area every time they look for a three-cell ship.
