Habits That Raise Your Win Rate

Battleship has an element of luck, but over the long run, the player who uses probability well comes out ahead. Instead of firing at random cells on a hunch, build the habit of always choosing the most promising cell.

Start your offense with parity search, switch immediately to tracking once you score a hit, and adjust your net to match the remaining ship sizes after each sinking. Once this rhythm becomes second nature, you'll waste far fewer shots.

Defense comes down entirely to unpredictable placement. Change your layout every game, and never put your largest ship in the same spot twice. The balance of offense and defense is what builds a strong long-term win rate.
